I have my Bible software set to open to a random verse. Today it opened to the Message version of Matt. 10:39, “If your first concern is to look after yourself, you’ll never find yourself. But if you forget about yourself and look to me, you’ll find both yourself and me.”
I guess it’s time to re-focus…

You know, when finances hit the fan…. it smells pretty much as bad as when that other stuff does…..

I feel like Moses trying to get water from a rock…. How many different ways can you tell a company, “I can’t afford to pay you right now”?

OK. So lately I’ve been in a song lyric mood…. actually, I always am (music is my life, life is music) - I’ve just decided to blog my musical journeys.
So, here you go. Another lyric to set my mood. While this song was sung for her child, and it is a fantastic song for any parent to listen to, I like to twist this around and imagine God saying this to me. (If you can imagine the God of the universe bending down and saying this to you, and it doesn’t make you choke up… I don’t know what will.)
Plumb - In My Arms from the album Blink
Clouds will rage and
Storms will race in
But you will be safe
In my arms
Rains will pour down
Waves will crash around
But you will be safe
In my arms
(As always, the best place to preview and purchase music is at Amazon’s MP3 store, since they don’t tie you down with crappy DRM.)

Pastor Eric discussed the “Body of Christ” today. About how everyone is a different body part, and that - unlike what most people think - every single part is extremely important to the body operating successfully.
So, I’m back at the sound board mulling this over…. and had the following thought.
I want to be a cheek (doesn’t really matter which one…. ok, as long as it’s on the face). Not just a “normal” cheek. I want to be a cheek that is sore and wrinkled. Sore from smiling at people, and with a deep smile wrinkle right next the the corner of the mouth. Amazing how a body part that no one thinks of plays such a large role in showing kindness and joy to the rest of the world.
What part would you be?
